TOPAZ ANNOUNCES JACK & JILL FOUNDATION AS ITS NEW BRAND PARTNER

3-year partnership will see over €400,000 raised in aid of the Children’s Charity

Irish fuel and convenience retailer Topaz has today announced children’s charity the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation as its newest brand partner.

Making the announcement was Topaz Marketing Director Margaret Barron who joined CEO and founder of the Jack & Jill Foundation Jonathan Irwin, to launch the partnership along with a new Topaz fundraising initiative called ‘Small Change for Big Change’.

This three-year brand partnership will see over €400,000 in much-needed funding raised for Jack & Jill.

The ‘Small Change for Big Change’ campaign calls on Topaz and Re.Store customers to donate their unwanted, soon-to-be out of circulation 1 cent and 2 cent coins in store with all donations going to Jack & Jill. Every €16 raised will deliver 1 hour of home nursing care to families in need.  The charity drive aims to fund over 25,000 nursing hours with the contributions of Topaz staff and customers.

The Jack & Jill Foundation, which was founded in 1997, provides direct funding to families of children up to the age of 4 years old suffering from severe intellectual and physical developmental delay as a result of brain damage, enabling them to purchase home nursing and respite care.

While parenting for most is about feeding, changing, teething, and catching the odd snatch of sleep, parenting for the families supported by Jack & Jill involves coping with seizures, feeding tubes and pain, punctuated by drugs, physio and hospital visits. 

However, underneath all of this disability, these are very precious children who do so much better at home medically, socially, emotionally, in every way, where they belong, amongst their family and community.

The Jack & Jill Foundation cannot cure those affected.  However, with the help and support of Topaz over the coming years, the charity aims to relieve the financial burden on families in desperate need of a helping hand.

CEO of the Jack & Jill Foundation, Jonathan Irwin welcomed the partnership saying: “We are delighted to be the new charity partner for such an iconic brand as Topaz and I want to thank the staff for choosing Jack & Jill.  This partnership is really about neighbour helping neighbour, friend helping friend and I can guarantee that every €16 raised will fund one hour of home nursing care for a sick child and what’s raised locally stays locally.”

As of today, Topaz and Re.Store customers will be able to donate at all counter-top sale and on-site collection points across the network, while a number of staff and company charity engagements in aid of Jack & Jill are also in planning, including Topaz staff getting involved in the Up the Hill for Jack & Jill fundraising challenge this month.
