Saturday 3rd May 2014. Topaz’s new loyalty game Play or Park was the run-away winner at the An Post Smart Marketing Awards claiming 16 awards in total for the country’s largest fuel and convenience retailer. Play or Park which was nominated in 15 categories, won 14 awards including 6 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze at the ceremony which was held in the Mansion House in Dublin.
Topaz’s gold awards included Smartest Loyalty Strategy, Smartest Relationship Management, and Smartest New Product Development.
In addition Topaz won two overall awards, the first of which was ‘Smartest Marketing Team of the Year’.
Then along with Chilli Pepper Marketing and Target McConnells, it was awarded the ‘Black Fox’ Grand Prix prize, which has not been awarded since 2009.
Paul Candon, Marketing and Corporate Services Director at Topaz described the results as sensational.
“Topaz was the first brand in Europe to use an ongoing gaming mechanic as the central pillar of its loyalty programme and it’s fantastic to have our innovative approach recognised by these multiple awards.
Play or Park has only been up and running for over a year and already we have signed up over 250,000 registered players. Our customers told us they wanted something that was different, something that was interactive and a bit of fun. We told them everyone was a winner with Play or Park and now we are too!”
Mr Candon paid tribute to all the employees at Topaz who have given their full support to Play or Park.
“It has been a fantastic team effort from everyone at the company but I must give special mention to our marketing team. To win the ‘Smartest Marketing Team’ award and the ‘Black Fox’ Grand Prix prize really is a marvellous achievement” he concluded.
