Topaz, Ireland’s leading fuel and convenience retailer, was recognised as top of its field in two categories at the recent Shelflife GRAM Awards 2011. Emmet Toft, from Topaz Miltonfields in Swords was named Forecourt Manager of the Year, while Jim McCausland from Caseys Topaz Centra on the Athlone Road in Roscommon claimed Symbol Group Manager of the Year.
The company had several other nominees present on the night. In fact, all those on the shortlist for the Symbol Group Manager category were Topaz representatives. Kinga Znorzynska from the Topaz Marina Station in Cork, Lynn Hegarty from Topaz Brennanstown and Ruairi Kelly from Tobins Gala/Topaz in Letterkenny were all recognised for their outstanding work as store manager.
In the Forecourt Manager 2011 category, two of the three finalists were Topaz managers. They included Raymond Dolan from the Templeville Road station in Dublin 6, Nick Haller from Newland Cross site, in Dublin 22.
Cathryn Helly from Caseys in Ballina was a finalist in the Delicatessen Food to Go Manager category, while the teams from Topaz on the Dock Road in Limerick and Tobins in Letterkenny were shortlisted for Best Team Performance.
Speaking after the ceremony, Paul Candon, Marketing and Corporate Services Director with Topaz, expressed his delight at the great accolades heaped on their team. “To be shortlisted for these awards is a fantastic achievement, and we’re very proud of everyone who made it here tonight. Topaz relies on the great work of their team to maintain the high standards our customers have come to expect. Our biggest asset is our people. To be recognised at this level is a source of great pride for the company and further highlights the success of the company to date. We’re naturally delighted that Jim and Emmet have had their hard work recognised and have reached this level of success among their peers.’
The GRAMS (Grocery Retail Awards in Management) acknowledge excellence in Irish grocery and retail management. This years Gala Dinner was held at Dublin’s Royal Marine Hotel in early June.
