Company also wins Best Employer title
November 8th 2010. Topaz, Ireland’s leading fuels and convenience retailer, has been crowned Irish Retail Company of the Year.
The award was presented to Topaz at the Retail Excellence Ireland Awards which were held in Galway over the weekend. The company beat off stiff competition from the likes of O2, Debenhams, Vodafone, the Dixon Group and Musgraves & BWG.
It was a tremendous win for Topaz the fully Irish owned and managed company which only came into existence as a brand in February 2008.
The company topped a fine weekend in Galway by winning the prestigious Best Employer Award. Other nominations in this category included Unicare and McDonalds.
Paul Candon, Marketing and Corporate Services Director, said it was a fantastic achievement, and the company was delighted and proud to be accredited by the REI.
“We are so proud at being named overall Irish Retail Company of the Year. This means a huge amount to Topaz, as we have only been around for a couple of years. Yet this shows how far we have come in this short time. It was also very pleasing to note the judging panel was looking for evidence of a business strategy that demonstrably contributes to the Irish economy, and that has always been a priority for us” he said.
“We are also thrilled to have won the ‘Best Employer’ award. This is especially significant as we would not have won this award without the full support of our employees. We value our employees so highly and we are extremely grateful for their commitment, energy and dedication every day’ Candon concluded.
The awards, now in their 14th year, reward excellence in practice in the world of retail. The ceremony took place in the Radisson Blu hotel in Galway, and was hosted by RTE presenter, Miriam O’Callaghan.
