Special Olympics Athletes from Galway got off to a squeaky clean start this weekend in the run up to their World Games in China. Newcastle Statoil Station in Galway hosted a Cop Car Wash Day on Saturday to raise funds for local athletes heading to China for the World Games this week.
On Saturday local Gardaí offered their services on the forecourt and helping out members of the public, filling petrol, water and screen washes and handing out air fresheners for anyone who dropped in on the day. Local Transition year students were on hand to man the jet wash for the day.
Speaking on the day, Frank Keane, event organiser said “we are delighted to be involved in this fundraising event. Everyone who participated has had a fantastic day and a big thank you to everyone who helped out, the students, Gardaí, Statoil staff and all the Special Olympics athletes who came along – Best wishes to them all in China lets hope we’ll all be celebrating on their return! ”
