10th October 2008: Topaz is pleased to announce that they have been nominated in three categories at the FBD Retail Excellence Ireland Awards 2008. The 100% Irish owned company has been short listed for Company of the Year, while the Dublin Port site has been put forward in the Retail Store of the Year category. Emmet Toft, manager at Topaz Swords has also been nominated for Manager of the Year. The awards ceremony will take place on November 15th at the Lyrath Estate Hotel, Kilkenny.
Speaking today, Frank Gleeson, Retail Director, said "We are very proud to have been nominated for these prestigious awards, which measure best practice standards in Irish retail. To be short listed from over 500 entries is a great achievement."
Topaz which unveiled its new brand at the beginning of the year is currently transforming over 350 service stations across the country. The company directly employs over 1,500 people and indirectly a further 2000.
The Dublin Port site is a European motorway style service station and stretches over four and a half acres. It has two forecourts (cars/truck-stop) and is fully equipped to meet the needs of all drivers. Its facilities include: a large restaurant, convenience store, deli, truckers lounge with WiFi internet access and full shower facilities. Parking spaces for 48 trucks are also available. This state-of-the-art service station is situated at the gateway to the Dublin Port Tunnel.
Emmet Toft is the manager of the Swords station. With a team of 15 people, he manages this busy convenience store and service station. Topaz Swords has a deli counter, full off-licence, as well as a full range of forecourt facilities. Emmet is delighted with his nomination and said, "It’s a great achievement, both personally and for the company as a whole. Topaz is a great company to work for, and does a lot to encourage and support employees."
THE FBD Retail Excellence Ireland Awards were established in 1997 with the aim of promoting best practice standards in Irish Retail. The awards ensure recognition of excellence by those who strive to be the best in their field. There are now over 500 entries annually, making it one of the largest awards programmes of its kind.
