Topaz was today announced as the only company in the fuel and convenience sector to make the ‘50 Best Companies to Work for in Ireland’ 2008 listing, according to a detailed assessment by the Great Place to Work® Institute Ireland.
The Best Companies study sets out to identify and recognise the finest employers, and therefore the most satisfied workforces in Ireland and throughout the European Union. The Irish study is the largest annual labour force survey undertaken in this country.
Paul Candon, HR & HSE Director, Topaz commented: “Naturally, we’re delighted to have been officially recognised for our performance as an employer of choice, but it’s particularly important for our over 1300 employees. This survey seeks their opinions directly and asks them to rate our performance on almost 60 elements covering communication, training & development, pride, work life balance, diversity and teamwork in the workplace. We’re happy for them, but won’t become complacent!”
Mícheal Martin, T.D., Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment congratulated Topaz on their ‘superb achievement’ and went on to commend them as: “one of the fifty who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to attitudes and policies that make your organisation a great place to work.”
Earlier this month, Topaz announced a €50 million investment programme to support the launch of the new Topaz brand in the Irish fuels and retail business. The company expects to create 400 new jobs as a result of this investment programme.
